OUR SCHOOL

Our School

Each child is special and it’s the duty of schools to provide a structural learning program based on the child's individual needs.

Kids Campus is an ISO 9001 - 2008 certified International Pre School. We aim to develop and nurture children with a safe and stimulating environment, and provide high quality integrated early education and child care in India. At Kids Campus children are given the opportunity to experience the best possible start to their education

The early years are critical in a child's development physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. Our aim is to work together with parents to develop the key learning skills, including listening, speaking, concentration, persistence, and co-operation. Therefore, this will help to prepare children for their learning journey.

OUR SCHOOL

CURRICULAM

A truly effective curriculum is one that is most sensitive and able to adapt to the changing developmental needs of the child. Our philosophy is ……. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all curriculum.

At Kids Campus, we have developed enhanced program to cater for diverse needs of our community. Every aspect of our school is designed to stimulate, guide and encourage the child’s cognitive, social, emotional, physical and creative development.

All our activities are devised with fun in mind. Each activity, whether child or teacher initiated has a desirable outcome. This means that your child ultimately achieves a learning objective from every activity he/she participates in at the Kids Campus.
The poem below provides a good description of the broad curriculum which is offered to the children within the Nursery:

I like to look and listen,
I need to touch and try,
I want to smell and sample
and ask the question 'Why?'
Give me time to wonder,
to imagine and pretened,
space to run and bend and stretch,
share secrets with a friend,
I want to hold and handle,
I must play to understand,
for I need to know so many things
to find out who i am.

In line with current US practice, the Kids Campus Curriculum is organized into six main areas. Many of the activities the children engage in develop skills in more than one of these areas at a time. However, the activities are planned to ensure the children receive a broad and balanced curriculum. This curriculum is delivered through carefully structured play activities which allow all children to develop their knowledge and skills.
The six areas of the curriculum are:

Personal, Social and Emotional Development
This area covers important personal and social skills, which children need to develop. We develop the child's confidence in meeting new people and new situations. Their ability to focus, concentrate and meet challenges. We enable them to become independent in all their activities within the unit, help them to play, co-operate and share with their peers. We develop their ability to understand and express their feelings and to respect the beliefs and traditions of different cultures.

Communication, Language and Literacy
Included here are the important pre-reading, pre-writing, listening and speaking skills. Here we develop the child's book handling skills, enjoyment of sharing books and the ability to listen and reflect on stories. We develop emergent writing and the ability to listen to, and talk with, others.

Mathematical Knowledge and Understanding
Skills and language are important concepts which the children need to develop before they are ready to begin formal mathematics. We give the child a wide range of practical activities to develop an understanding for numbers, shape, size and position and simple problem solving.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World
This area focuses on the understanding of natural materials, the environment of the child, information technology skills and the ability to plan and design.

We allow the children to experience and handle natural materials such as sand, water and clay. Along with that we develop their awareness of the environment, and give them opportunities to use computers, programmable toys and cassette recorders. They are also given construction kits and reclaimed materials to make models.

Creative Development
In this area children experience a variety of art activities such as creating pictures, collages, models and experimenting with color mixing. And a range of musical activities such as using instruments, singing and responding to music through movement. We develop their ability to handle and control tools and instruments in an appropriate manner.

Physical Development
Children must develop their strength and skills to learn and control their bodies in both large and fine movements. Here we increase their agility, coordination, awareness of space, body control and ball handling skills through our PE (Physical Education) lessons. We also develop their water confidence in our seasonal swimming lessons. We develop their fine motor skills through the handling of equipments and toys which require control and strength to manipulate.
Through this curriculum each child develops skills and understanding, meets challenges and grows self esteem and independence to be ready to make the transition to the reception year.

OUR POLICIES

OUR POLICIES

i. We believe in promoting positive behaviour.

ii. We aim to encourage self-discipline, consideration for each other, our surroundings and property.

iii.By praising children and acknowledging their positive actions and attitudes, we hope to ensure that children see that we value and respect them.

iv.Nursery rules are concerned with safety, care and respect for each other. Children who behave inappropriately, whether by physically abusing another child of adult e.g, by kicking, biting, or verbal bullying, may be removed from the group. The child who has been upset will be comforted and the adult will confirm that the other child's behaviour is not acceptable. It is important to acknowledge that a child is feeling angry or upset, and that it is the behaviour we are rejecting, not the child.

v.How a particular type of behaviour is handled will depend on the child and the circumstances. It may involve the child being asked to talk and think about what he or she has done. It may be that the child will not be allowed to make his/her choice of activities for a limited period of time.

vi.The child will also be asked to see if the person who was upset is alright and, if they mean it, to say or show that they are sorry. An immediate response of 'sorry' is not accepted is the child does not mean it, but is merely saying the word in the hope of being able to continue playing.

vii.We need to give children non-aggressive strategies to enable them to stand up for themselves so that adults and children listen to them. they need to be given opportunities to express their feelings more creatively.

vii.Parents will be informed if their child is persistently unkind to others, or if their child has been upset. In all cases, inappropriate behaviour will be dealt with in school at the time parents may be asked to meet with staff to discuss their child's behaviour, so that if there are any difficulties we can work together to ensure consistency between home and Nursery. In some cases we may request additional advice and support from other professionals, such as an educational psychologist or Child Guidance Counselor.

ix.Children need their own time and space. It is not always appropriate to expect a child to share, and it is important to acknowledge a child's feelings and to help them understand how others might be feeling.

x.Children must be encouraged to recognize that bullying, fighting hurting and racist comments are not acceptable behaviour. We want children to recognize that certain actions are right, and others are wrong.

'By positively promoting good behaviour, valuing co-operation and a caring attitude, we hope to ensure that children will develop as responsible members of society'.
